Supporting Knowledge Exchange Among HIV Community

Gilead recognizes the importance of capacity building for community-based organizations.

In partnership with APCOM Foundation, we launched the very first HIV Community Masterclass Series that aims to facilitate the exchange and learning for better delivery of patient-centric care. The series attracted about 300 peers from 17 countries who shared their best practices in the provision of HIV care.

Honoring Champions of Stigma-Free Care

Gilead partners with IAS — the International AIDS Society to expand the Me and My Healthcare Provider campaign to Asia, in addition to Brazil and Mexico.

The healthcare providers are spotlighted as role models for advocating stigma free services in the clinical setting. This is an important first step in recognizing those brave individuals on the frontlines who are making a positive impact for patients and families living with HIV.

Walk with Pride

Stigma often comes from a place of low awareness and fear. A progressive society like Taiwan which was the first to legalize same-sex marriage in Asia remains challenging to eliminate stigma and bias.

The "Colorless Rainbow" campaign by Gilead in partnership with the Taiwan Rainbow Civil Association envisions a world that is free of labeling, prejudice, and discrimination. Through dialogues and conversations, we aim to deepen people’s understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and the unique issues that they face, to build an inclusive world that advocates for people to live openly and authentically. Gilead showed up and marched with the LGBTQ community across major cities in Taiwan to demonstrate our unwavering support for a world free of judgment and stigma.

Celebrating Diversity through Sports and Culture

Gilead is proud to be an official supporter for the first Gay Games in Asia.

In addition to being the largest inclusive multi-sport and cultural event in the world, Gay Games Hong Kong carries an important message of hope and optimism. Themed “Unity in Diversity”, Gay Games aligns closely with Gilead’s core value of fostering inclusion and diversity, as well as creating equitable opportunities for all. We believe that only through dialogues, can everyone be led to greater connection, trust and engagement.

As a longstanding supporter of the Gay Games Hong Kong (GGHK), we also partnered with GGHK to launch the “Colors of Life” campaign, a one-year initiative that celebrates stories of remarkable individuals that embody the spectrum of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

In support of GGHK, we joined hands with the Hong Kong AIDS Foundation and Eaton HK to stage the "United in Memory: AIDS Memorial Quilt Exhibition" to commemorate four decades of HIV care in Hong Kong from November to December 2023. The exhibition at Eaton HK showcases local and overseas AIDS Memorial Quilts to invite the public to reflect on the impact of HIV and the journey that Hong Kong has gone through since the first case of HIV is identified.
